Design Improvements Over OEM
Goldmont uses Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to identify high stress areas in the OEM inner zoom tubes. The FEA results are used to target design modifications to reduce the stress loadings and to complement the use of Strenx 700.
Materials
Strenx 700 is a premium high-strength structural steel manufactured by SSAB.
Why Strenx 700?
Standard structural steels can fatigue and deform under the high-cycle, high-load stresses of underground drilling operations. Strenx 700’s minimum yield strength of 700 MPa gives Goldmont’s inner zoom tubes superior resistance to wear and deformation — extending service intervals and reducing total replacement cost over the rock drill’s life.
